Turner Field

Turner FieldA blend of technology and entertainment best describes the home of the Atlanta Braves - Turner Field, which is one of Atlanta's premier sports arenas. Every year, a captivating season of championship baseball unfolds at the stadium. The Atlanta Braves, having won fifteen consecutive division titles, delivers unparalleled sports action for fans. Prior to the start of the 2005 season, $15 million was spent on improvements at Turner Field. The Authority and the Braves purchased the largest high definition video-scoreboard in baseball history as of that date. Some of the improvements included adding ribbon boards along the upper deck and a new restaurant constructed in right field. Also, in 2005, the Braves broke ground for the Atlanta Braves Baseball Academy located near the Turner Field complex, which serves the youth in the nearby neighborhoods.

Each year, various community events occur around Turner Field. Turner Field is not only the home of the Atlanta Braves but provides a venue to support the Authority’s sponsored events of UniverSoul Circus and the Atlanta Fair. In the spring, thousands of children and their families flock to the big top erected in the stadium's parking lot for the UniverSoul Circus, the only African American circus of its kind in the country and a worldwide leader in family entertainment. Additionally, the Atlanta Fair returns to delight children and parents with carnival rides, games, cotton candy and candied apples. The Atlanta Fair has provided $20,000 in scholarships to the Fulton County Beat the Odds Program and the Atlanta Next Step Program. In the winter, Turner Field is the site of the Thanksgiving and Christmas "Feed the Hungry" dinners that are supported by both the Atlanta Braves and the Authority. Combined, these dinners provide about 80,000 hot meals for Atlanta's needy during the season that kindles unity.
